Four Wildcats to Play 2025 Lexington Open
LEXINGTON, Ky.– Four Kentucky men’s tennis players are set to participate in the 2025 Lexington Open next week, hosted at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex. An ATP Challenger Tour event scheduled to run from Sunday, July 27 to Sunday, August 3, the tournament will see Antoine Ghibaudo, Matt Rankin, Eli Stephenson, and Jaden Weekes take to their home courts against some of the world’s best.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the Lexington Open will kick off with the first round of qualifying singles on July 27, featuring Rankin, Stephenson, and Weekes. The final round of qualifying and some first round matches of the main draw singles tournament will start on Monday, July 28, with the 32-player main draw taking place over five rounds and seven days until the final on August 3.
Currently ranked in the world’s top-500, Ghibaudo will kick off his tournament on either July 28 or July 29 thanks to a main draw wildcard into the main draw singles bracket. A rising sophomore, the Paris, France native had a successful rookie campaign for the Cats, earning First Team All-SEC and ITA Ohio Valley Region Rookie of the Year honors while holding down the top singles line in 2025.
Weekes is a three-time Southeastern Conference Champion and a 2024 All-SEC Second Team member, having featured in the Wildcats’ lineup in all three seasons in Lexington. Stephenson, a Louisville native, was the 2024 ITA Ohio Valley Region Rookie of the Year and helped Kentucky complete the league double in his freshman campaign. Rankin was also a member of the 2024 SEC Regular Season and Tournament Championship squad, and featured heavily in the Kentucky lineup last spring,
