Wildcats Set to Travel to Des Moines, Add Drake Relays to 2025 Schedule

LEXINGTON, Ky. – In a recent addition to the schedule, the Kentucky Wildcats track and field team is set to travel to Des Moines, Iowa for a two-day event this week for the Drake Relays on Apr. 25-26.

UK is sending 15 athletes to Des Moines for this week’s two-day meet to compete in a maximum of 11 total events. Kentucky will also feature in five relays on the women’s side, including the 4x100m, 4x200m, 4x400m, 4x800m and sprint medley relay events.

The Wildcats will use this weekend’s meet in Des Moines as a tune up for a string of home meets to kick off the month of May. Kentucky is set to host the Jim Green Invitational on May 2-3 at Shively Track and Field Stadium. Kentucky will also host the SEC Outdoor Championships on May 15-17 in Lexington, Ky.

Last time out, the Cats faced off against nine other SEC programs in Gainesville, Fla. at the Tom Jones Memorial Invite. UK came away with two event wins from Morgan Davis (W 200m) and Miles Brush (M 5000m) and two freshman records, featuring Collins Kiprop Kipngok (M 1500m) and Janet Jepkemboi Amimo (W 800m).

The Wildcats will begin competition at the Drake Relays tomorrow afternoon at 1:15 p.m. EST with the women’s 100m hurdles prelim event. Friday’s events will conclude with the women’s 4x200m relay at 8:36 p.m. EST.
