Wildcats Close Out Jim Click Invite with Eight Event Wins

TUCSON, Ariz. – Following yesterday’s record-breaking performance at the Stanford Invitational, the Kentucky track and field team concluded its run at the Jim Click Shootout Invitational, as well as their west coast trip, today in Tucson, Ariz.

Yesterday, three program records were recorded on the opening day of the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif., including Collins Kiprop Kipngok in the men’s 3000m steeplechase, Janet Jepkemboi Amimo in the women’s 1500m and Ed Bird in the men’s 5000m.

Today, the Wildcats picked up eight event wins on the final day of the Jim Click Invite, the second-highest win total in one day for the Cats during the 2024-25 season, and the highest thus far through the first four weeks of the outdoor schedule. The team’s highest mark of total event wins in one day this season is 12 dating back Dec. 11, 2024, at the Louisville Opener.

Among the event winner for the Wildcats today, Emmi Scales started the day off by winning the women’s 100m hurdles with a 13.06 time, the eighth-fastest time in UK history. The women’s 4x100m relay team finished atop the leaderboard with the sixth-fastest time in the NCAA coming into the weekend. Kentucky would rattle off six more individual wins throughout the afternoon and early evening events, including Oneika McAnnuff (W 400m), Brayden Jackson (M Pole Vault), Sophie Galloway (W Triple Jump), Alex Justus (M 800m), Sami Hattab (M 1500m) and Mollie Roden (W 1500m).

Following their trip out west, the Wildcats will return to the east coast, as they are set to compete in the annual Tom Jones Memorial Invite in Gainesville, Fla. on Apr. 18-19.
