Kentucky STUNT Wins Twice, Advances to Conference Title Game

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky STUNT team won twice in the Mid America West Conference Tournament on Friday inside Historic Memorial Coliseum. UK pitched a perfect game against Mercyhurst in the opener, winning 24-0, before topping Trevecca Nazarene 23-5 in the nightcap.

Kentucky (26-1), the top seed in the event, faced fourth-seeded Mercyhurst in the Cats’ first game on Friday. And UK wasted little time taking control of the game. In the first quarter, partner stunts, Kentucky won every point to take a 4-0 lead. In the second period, pyramids and tosses, the Cats again won all four points and UK took an 8-0 lead into the half.

The Cats dominated the third period, jumps and tumbling, again taking all four available points. And in the fourth quarter, UK finished off the perfect game by winning all 12 points in the fourth period. The win was Kentucky’s fifth perfect game this season.

In the nightcap, UK faced second-seeded Trevecca Nazarene. In the first period, the Cats claimed the first point before the teams tied on the second routine. Kentucky would win the final two points of the period to lead 4-1. In quarter two, the teams tied the first routine before the Cats won the final three points to lead 8-2 at the half.

Quarter three saw Kentucky claim four points, while Trevecca earned one. UK took a 12-3 lead into the final period, where the Cats grabbed 11 points to just two for the Trojans.

Kentucky returns to action on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET. The Cats will face the survivor of the loser’s bracket of the Mid America West Conference Tournament.
