Wildcats Set for Spilt Weekend at Jim Click Shootout, Stanford Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky Wildcats track and field team is set for another split weekend, this week in Tucson, Ariz. for the Jim Click Shootout Invite and in Palo Alto, Calif. for the Stanford Invitational on Apr. 4-5.

The Wildcats are sending 45 athletes to Tucson and nine distance athletes to Stanford for this weekend’s meets to compete across 41 combined events.

The Wildcats are coming off a loaded week in Austin, Texas at the Texas Relays, recording six top 10 school performance entries, four event wins, one school record and an NCAA-best mark. Following their prelim win on day two, the men’s 4x100m relay team, featuring Shavique Bascus, Clinton Muunga, Miles Jones and Carlie Makarawu, broke the Kentucky 4x100m record, won the event and set a new NCAA-best with a 38.43 time.

Week four of the outdoor season features as the unofficial midway point of the Wildcats’ schedule with the pair of meets on the west coast. Following this weekend’s meets, the Cats will travel to Gainesville, Fla for the annual Tom Jones Memorial Invite on Apr. 18-19 before returning home for the Jim Green Invitational on May 2-3 and the SEC Outdoor Championships on May 15-17, both at the UK Outdoor Track and Field Complex.

Events for the Jim Click Shootout Invite will begin tomorrow at 12 p.m. EST, starting with Ariel Pedigo in the women’s javelin final. Competition for the Cats at the Stanford Invitational will kick off at 5:10 p.m. with Noel Barlette, Perri Bockrath featuring in the women’s 3000m steeplechase event.
