Cody Fueger, Jason Hart Selected for Elite 75 Future Head Coach Power Lunch
SAN ANTONIO – Kentucky men’s basketball assistant coaches Cody Fueger and Jason Hart were selected for the 2025 Elite 75 Future Head Coach Power Lunch, held Thursday at The Creamery in San Antonio ahead of the Final Four.
Presented by Silver Waves Media, the event recognizes 75 coaches who have distinguished themselves in the basketball space and are potential Division I head coaches. A total of 50 athletic directors, 50 associate athletic directors and seven search firms will also be in attendance.
Fueger and Hart were both a part of head coach Mark Pope’s inaugural staff at Kentucky in 2024-25 and helped the Wildcats to a 24-12 overall record and the program’s first appearance in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament since 2019. Along the way, the Wildcats tied an NCAA record with eight wins over Associated Press Top 15 teams, became the first team in program history to finish the season with six players averaging double-digit points and set a program record for the most made 3-pointers in a single season with 341. UK accomplished all that with zero returning points from the 2023-24 roster, becoming the first team to advance to the Sweet 16 with no returning scoring production in NCAA Tournament history.
Fueger has spent 10 years alongside Pope, first at Utah Valley then at BYU and now Kentucky. Silver Waves Media previously named him one of the most impactful mid-major assistant coaches in Division I men’s basketball in 2022 and 2023. Often praised as an offensive strategist, Fueger has been a part of several highly effective offensive teams during his coaching career. With the Final Four still to be played, this year’s Kentucky team ranks seventh in the country in scoring offense (84.4 ppg) and 11th in KenPom offensive efficiency. At BYU in 2023-24, Fueger and the Cougars were third in the nation in both made 3s and assists per game, while also leading the Big 12 in scoring at 81.4 points per game. A native of Milwaukee, Fueger got his start in the business as a student assistant and video coordinator at Utah under Rick Majerus.
Hart, having also just completed his first season at Kentucky, is a nine-year NBA veteran and a former college star at Syracuse. After his playing days, Hart coached both high school and AAU basketball in his native California. He eventually was hired as an assistant at Pepperdine and then the University of Southern California, where he was soon promoted to associate head coach. Prior to arriving in Lexington, Hart served as the head coach of the NBA G-League Ignite from 2021-2024, coaching the likes of Jaden Hardy, Scoot Henderson, Matas Buzelis and Ron Holland. Hart was instrumental in working with Kentucky’s guards this season, helping the team navigate several backcourt injuries on its way to the Sweet 16. Under Hart’s tutelage, UK point guard Lamont Butler had a career-season despite a lingering shoulder problem. He averaged career-highs in points per game (11.4), assists per game (4.3), rebounds per game (2.9), field-goal percentage (.498) and 3-point field-goal percentage (.391). Hart was also integral in the development of freshmen guards Travis Perry and Collin Chandler, who both saw significant time at the point guard position this season.
