Loutit, Stephenson Bag Top Ten Doubles Win At No. 4 Texas
AUSTIN, Texas– No. 21 Jack Loutit and Eli Stephenson earned their fourth ranked win in their last five completed matches with their most notable triumph to date, taking down No. 8 Lucas Brown and Timo Legout, 6-3, as Kentucky (11-9, 4-6 SEC) dropped a 4-0 decision at No. 4 Texas (18-3, 9-0 SEC)
Loutit and Stephenson’s doubles victory kept the Cats in the opening session of play, as the two teams split the top two courts with the Longhorns taking No. 2 with a 6-1 win. Tied 3-3 on court No. 3, Antoine Ghibaudo and Jaden Weekes were unable to sustain an early break advantage and fell 6-3 to Pierre-Yves Bailly and Sebastian Eriksson to give Texas a 1-0 lead in the dual.
In singles, the home team sustained its momentum and took opening sets on five of six courts. In one of four ranked vs. ranked matchups, No. 19 Sebastian Gorzney got the best of No. 49 Loutit on court No. 2 to double the Texas lead. Shortly after, No. 53 Jonah Braswell defeated No. 121 Charlelie Cosnet at No. 4 singles to bring the match within one point of conclusion. Eriksson would deliver the clinch with a win at No. 5 over Stephenson.
The Cats will complete their season long four-match road trip on Sunday, taking on No. 12 Texas A&M at 2 p.m. ET in Bryan-College Station.
