Kentucky Men’s Tennis Travels to Lone Star State for Pair of Matches
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky men’s tennis (11-8, 4-5 SEC) will face its toughest test of the Southeastern Conference schedule this weekend, traveling to the Lone Star State for a pair of matches against top 25 foes. The Cats will face No. 4 Texas (17-3, 8-0 SEC) on Friday, March 28 at 7 p.m. ET before traveling south to face No. 12 Texas A&M (14-5, 7-1 SEC) on Sunday, March 30 at 2 p.m. ET.
The Cats will be looking for their first road win in conference play as they take on the top two teams in the league. Kentucky will also be aiming to earn its first top 25 win since January 25 against No. 20 Arizona State.
Four Cats hold ITA singles rankings, led by Jack Loutit at No. 49. Freshman Antoine Ghibaudo slots at No. 63, Jaden Weekes follows at No. 74, and Charlelie Cosnet rounds out the quartet at No. 121. Additionally, for the first time this season, the Cats feature a ranked doubles team, as Loutit and Stephenson rose from unranked to No. 21 last week.
Friday’s match with the Longhorns will be the first between the two teams since 2013, a 4-1 Wildcat win during ITA Kickoff Weekend. This will be the first time the two teams have faced off as conference foes, with the Horns holding a perfect SEC record heading into the match. No. 3 Timo Legout leads four Texas players in the ITA singles rankings, joined by No. 19 Sebastian Gorzny, No. 46 Pierre-Yves Bailey, and No. 53 Jonah Braswell. Legout and Lucas Brown check in at No. 8 in the ITA doubles rankings.
On Sunday, the Cats and the Aggies will meet for the second time this season, with Kentucky looking to reverse a 4-2 losing decision suffered at the 2025 ITA Indoor National Championships. No. 32 Theo Papamalamis and No. 43 JC Roddick lead the Aggies in singles, while Papamalamis and Togan Tokac come into the match ranked No. 30 in doubles.
This weekend’s matches will be the final time the Cats play away from home in the 2025 regular season, as Kentucky returns to Lexington for its non-conference finale against Dayton on Wednesday, April 2 at 11 a.m. ET before hosting Ole Miss on Thursday, April 3 at 5 p.m. ET.
All home matches will be played at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex, and admission is free to the public for all regular season contests. A live stream will be provided for all home matches on UKAthletics.com.
