Kentucky Gymnastics Selected for 36th NCAA Regional, Earns No. 9 National Seed

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky gymnastics team is set to head to the program’s 36th NCAA postseason after the Cats were selected as the No. 9 overall seed in the 2025 NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championship, announced during today’s selection show. Kentucky will be the No. 3 seed in the University Park Regional, hosted by Penn State from April 2-5.

The Cats will receive a first round bye and make their 2025 regional debut on Thursday, April 3 in the first of two regional semifinals. No. 9 Kentucky will be joined by No. 8 Michigan State, Ohio State, and host Penn State in the opening session at 1 p.m. ET. No. 1 LSU, No. 16 Arkansas, Michigan, and the winner of Wednesday’s first round contest between Maryland and West Virginia will compete in the second semifinal at 7 p.m. ET.

The top two teams in each semifinal will advance to Saturday’s regional final to be held at 5 p.m. ET on April 5, where two bids to the 2025 NCAA National Championships will be up for grabs. Individual spots at nationals will also be available to the top finishers on each event and the all-around from a non-advancing team, determined by scores from Thursday’s semifinals.

The 2025 NCAA National Collegiate Women’s Gymnastics Championships will be held in Ft. Worth, Texas from April 17-19 featuring an eight-team field comprised of the top two teams from each of the four regionals. The Wildcats are looking to make it out of regionals for the third time in program history, aiming to join the 2018 and 2023 squads that advanced to the NCAA National Championships.

Kentucky is making its 20th consecutive regional appearance, dating back to 2005. The Cats have earned a national seed for the eighth straight season, a program record. Kentucky has been a top three regional seed in seven of those eight seasons and a top ten national seed in five of the last six editions of the tournament. Since regionals switched to a multi-day format in 2019, the Cats have never failed to reach a regional final.

Every session of the University Park regional will be available to stream on ESPN+.
