Women’s Tennis Set to Host Mississippi State and No. 25 Alabama

LEXINGTON, Ky. –Kentucky women’s tennis (7-8, 1-6 SEC) will face Mississippi State (10-7, 0-6 SEC) on Friday at 5 p.m. ET. Following that Kentucky will match up with Alabama (9-6, 3-4 SEC) on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex.

On Friday, Kentucky’s strong pair No. 65 Ellie Eades and Lizzy Stevens will matchup against Mississippi State’s ranked pair No. 72 Gianna Oboniye and Athina Pitta. Additionally, the Cats have two dominant forces in singles with ranked players No. 59 Zoe Hammond and No. 96 Julia Zhu.The Cats lead 43-7 in the all time series and they lead 2-1 at home in Lexington.

On Sunday, Kentucky will host the second home contest of the weekend against Alabama. In doubles, Alabama has the ranked pair No.55 Maria Martinez Vaquero and Maria Andrienko. In singles, Alabama registers one ranked player in at No. 75 Petra Sedlackova.

Both matches are projected to be played indoors at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex.
