Women’s Swimming and Diving Heads to NCAA Championship
LEXINGTON, Ky. –The University of Kentucky women’s swimming and diving team is primed for a strong showing at the 2025 NCAA Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships, with a pair of swimmers and one diver earning invitations to the prestigious event. The Championships will take place March 19-22 at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Washington, and Kentucky will be represented by fifth-year Bridget Engel, junior Grace Frericks, and senior diver Abby Devereaux.
The Wildcats begin their competition on Thursday with Grace Frericks swimming the 50 free. Frericks, a versatile swimmer with a strong presence in the backstroke and freestyle events, will also compete in the 100 backstroke on Friday and 200 backstroke on Saturday, where she placed 18th a season ago.
Engel, a breaststroke specialist, has qualified in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke. She enters the meet with the 28th best time in the nation in the 100 breaststroke, which she will swim on Friday. On Saturday she will compete in the 200 breaststroke to round out her last NCAA Championship.
In addition to the swimmers, Kentucky will be represented in the Saturday diving portion of the competition by senior Abby Devereaux. Devereaux earned her spot at the NCAAs with a stellar performance at the Zone C Diving Championships. She secured her invitation by finishing 8th in the platform event, showing hope for a high placement at the NCAA Championships.
With Frericks, Engel, and Devereaux leading the charge, Kentucky’s swimming and diving program is set to showcase its talent on the national stage. The Wildcats will look to build on their past successes and demonstrate that they’re among the nation’s elite.
