LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky women’s tennis team hits the road this weekend, traveling to No. 12 Oklahoma on Friday and No. 70 Arkansas on Sunday.
The No. 68 Wildcats are looking to gain their first SEC win this season, hoping to build momentum with these key matchups. Kentucky will rely on the strong play of junior Zoe Hammond, who has been a consistent presence on court one, and Julia Zhu, the Wildcats’ No. 66 ranked singles player, who has been a reliable asset as well. Kentucky’s doubles lineup, including the talented pair of Ellie Eades and Lizzy Stevens, will also play a key role.
On Friday, Kentucky will face an Oklahoma team that includes ranked singles players like No. 17 Julia Garcia Ruiz, No. 34 Alina Shcherbinina, and No. 74 Emma Staker. The Sooners also feature top doubles teams, including No. 63 Cara Mester & Shcherbinina and No. 66 Chloe Noel & Garcia Ruiz.
On Sunday, the Wildcats head to Arkansas, where they will take on a Razorbacks squad featuring No. 55 Carolina Gomez Alonso in singles and the doubles pair of No. 82 Anet Koskel & Grace O’Donnell. While Arkansas is ranked just behind Kentucky, this matchup will be another tough test on the road.
Friday’s match in Oklahoma will begin at 6 p.m. ET and Sunday in Arkansas at 1 p.m. ET. Fans are encouraged to follow the Wildcats on the road as they look to continue their strong play and work to rise in the rankings.
