Kentucky Hosts Wofford in Final Non-Conference Series

No. 23 Kentucky opens its final pre-Southeastern Conference weekend series on Friday when a dangerous Wofford program arrives in Lexington for three games. The Wildcats are 10-1 overall and have won nine consecutive games while the Terriers are 11-2 overall.

UK is coming off its fourth run rule victory in 11 games this season after pummeling Eastern Kentucky 16-0 in seven innings on the road Tuesday night. Wednesday’s return game at Kentucky Proud Park was cancelled due to weather issues. In that game, the pitching staff logged its third shutout and now lead Division I in team ERA, WHIP and fewest hits allowed per nine innings. The offense now ranks 21st in scoring at nearly 10 runs per game.

This weekend also could see significant running as the teams already have combined for 76 stolen bases in 85 attempts this season. Wofford often has proven a difficult mid-major opponent, having won at least 36 games each of the past six seasons not shortened by the Covid-19 pandemic.

All three games will be streamed on SECN+ and live audio will be available on the UK Sports Network, UKathletics.com official app and 98.5 FM in Lexington.
