Kentucky Women’s Basketball Earns Fourth Seed at 2025 SEC Tournament

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of Kentucky women’s basketball team will be the fourth seed and receive the double bye at the Southeastern Conference Tournament at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina. The Wildcats will play against the winner of Game 6 on Friday, March 7 at 2:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.

It is the first time UK has earned the double bye since it claimed the third seed in 2020. UK has played in the quarterfinal game in 14 of the last 15 seasons.

The Wildcats have a 44-44 (.500) record in the league tournament, including a 17-16 (.515) in quarterfinal games.

New this season, the SEC Tournament will feature a 16-team format. The league tournament began as a 10-team format in 1980, then increased to a 12-team format in 1992, before adopting a 14-team format in 2013.
