LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 56 Kentucky women’s tennis team is on the road for the first time in conference play this season, as they take on LSU on Friday at 6 p.m. and then at Ole Miss on Sunday at 2 p.m. Coming off a loss in their SEC opener against No. 7 Tennessee, the No. 57 Wildcats look to get their first win of conference play.

Against the No. 7 Volunteers, the Wildcats took a tough loss 4-2. However, the fight against a top 10 ranked team in the ITA poll provided a much-needed spark for Kentucky. Junior Zoe Hammond emerged as a standout in her top five singles win over No. 5 Elza Tomara. Hammond now has notched two ranked wins on the year at first singles and will continue to face tough opponents in the remainder of SEC play. No. 59 Julia Zhu picked up the other point for the Wildcats on court three, beating Maeve Thornton in straight sets and continuing to show her strengths.

The Wildcats face a challenging road test against No. 10 LSU on Friday. The Tigers are led by two top 25 doubles pairings of No. 17 Kayla Cross and Cadence Brace and No. 22 Tilwith Di Girolami and Anita Sahdiieva. In singles, the Tigers have No. 51 Cross, No. 72 Di Girolami, and No. 121 Gaby Rivera. On Sunday, Kentucky will face No. 71 Ole Miss in Oxford. The Wildcats look for revenge from last year, after falling to the rebels 4-0.
