Wildcats Set for Start of SEC Indoor Championships in College Station

LEXINGTON, Ky. – After nine meets and 12 broken records in the regular season, the Kentucky men’s and women’s track and field team is set to travel to Bryan-College Station, Texas for the start of postseason competition and the 2025 SEC Indoor Championships at the Fasken Indoor Track and Field Facility on the campus of Texas A&M University.

Kentucky is sending 49 athletes to College Station for the SEC Championships, including Carli Makarawu (200m), Kate Powers (Weight Throw) and Luke Brown (Triple Jump), each of whom are ranked in the top 10 in Division I in their respective events.

Last time out, the Wildcats competed in the Tiger Paw Invite in Clemson, S.C. and the David Hemery Valentine Invite in Boston, Mass. on Feb. 14-15. In the pair of meets, the Cats broke three school records, featuring Makarawu moving from third to first in the 200m with a 20.31 finish, Ed Bird breaking his own record in the 3000m, and in the same event, Collins Kiprop Kipngok broke the UK freshman record by nearly four seconds.

This week’s championships mark the fifth time Texas A&M has hosted the SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships, but just the first time inside the Fasken Indoor Facility. It also marks the first SEC Indoor Track & Field Championships for Oklahoma and Texas as members of the conference.

Events for the Wildcats will begin tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. CST with women’s indoor pentathlon, and the women’s distance medley relay events at 7:20 p.m. CST will conclude day one in College Station.
