Big Blue Preview: No. 14/14 Kentucky Women’s Basketball Plays Host to No. 7/7 LSU on Senior Day

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 14/14 University of Kentucky women’s basketball team will play host to No. 7/7 LSU on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 4 p.m. ET in Historic Memorial Coliseum.

Georgia Amoore, an All-American graduate point guard, and Dazia Lawrence, a redshirt senior guard, will go through the senior day ceremony. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats for the celebration to begin at 3:40 p.m. ET.

The Wildcats have sold out their remaining two games of the season, while some UK student and faculty / staff tickets remain available to claim.

Big Blue Nation also can still purchase tickets to the program’s remaining home games on Ticketmaster Verified Resale. To shop those tickets, click here. For a full list of the program’s Southeastern Conference promotional lineup, click here.

Darren Headrick will have the radio call for UK Sports Network, his eighth straight season as the voice of the Wildcats. His call will be carried on 630 AM WLAP (Lexington) and 840 AM WHAS (Louisville).

Big Blue Nation also can watch the game on ESPN, with Debbie Antonelli and Beth Mowins on the call.

The Wildcats are off to a 21-4 start to the season, including a 10-3 start to league action. This season marked the sixth quickest the program has ever reached 20 wins. In doing so, head coach Kenny Brooks tied the late Terry Hall as the quickest head coaches in program history to reach their first 20 wins at UK (24 games). Meanwhile, Brooks set the program record for most league wins by a head coach in their first year at Kentucky (10).

Kentucky is 13-1 in Historic Memorial Coliseum, as UK is in search for its best home record since 2012-13 (16-1).

UK has hosted three ranked teams at home this season, defeating No. 18/18 Louisville, 71-61, in overtime on Nov. 16 and No. 22/22 Alabama, 65-56, on Jan. 30. UK dropped a contest to No. 3/3 Texas, 67-49, most recently on Feb. 13.

The Wildcats will actually play host to two straight ranked foes in No. 7/7 LSU on Sunday and No. 15/13 Tennessee on Thursday. In fact, their final three games of the regular season are all against Associated Press Top 25 teams, in addition to concluding the regular season at No. 6/6 South Carolina on March 2.

Kentucky is 4-2 against ranked foes overall this season, with those four wins coming by way of at least nine points.

UK is currently fourth in the league standings, behind Texas, South Carolina and LSU. It has a two-game lead over Alabama and Oklahoma, who are both tied in fifth place, while it also has wins over each of those opponents. With just three games remaining in the regular season, UK is in search of its first SEC Tournament double-bye since 2020.

Tomorrow’s game will mark the 56th all-time meeting between the UK and LSU.

Kentucky trails the all-time meetings with LSU, 37-18, in a series that began in 1982. UK trails LSU in the series in Lexington, 12-9.

The last time the Wildcats defeated the Tigers was in the SEC Tournament Quarterfinals on March 4, 2022, 78-63, en route to knocking off the one, two and three seeds to be crowned champions. The last time the Wildcats defeated the Tigers at home was Feb. 24, 2019, 57-52.
