Kentucky Track and Field Closes Out Regular Season at Tiger Paw Invite, David Hemery Valentine Invite

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky’s track and field team features its final two regular season meets of the 2024-25 indoor season this weekend at the Tiger Paw Invite and the David Hemery Valentine Invite on Feb. 14-15 in Clemson, S.C. and Boston, Mass.

Start times for this weekend’s meets include a 9 a.m. start on Friday and an 11:15 a.m. start on Saturday in Boston, and an 11 a.m. start on Friday and a 9 a.m. start on Saturday in Clemson.

In this week’s USTFCCCA National Rankings, the Wildcats came in at No. 29 overall on the women’s side and fourth in the SEC rankings.

Last time out, Kentucky traveled to Indianapolis for the Fairgrounds Invitational on Saturday. UK kicked off the event with four Wildcats qualifying for the women’s 60m hurdles final event, including Alexis Glasco, Kori Martin, Camden Bentley and Maya Anderson finishing as the top four runners. Glasco would later claim the top spot on the leaderboard in the 60m hurdles final with an 8.28 time, along with Martin, Bentley and Anderson finishing inside the top six. In the Wildcats’ second and third wins of the day, A’Laji Bradley and Cha’lei Johnson topped the leaderboard in the women’s 400m and 800m finals, with Bradley finishing in a personal best time of 56.38.

On the men’s side, the Wildcats moved to 44th in the USTFCCCA rankings following the Fairgrounds Invite on Saturday. UK added two more personal bests to their results in Indianapolis last weekend, including Max Liao in the 800m and Alex Alston in the 3000m, with Alston finishing fourth and clearing his previous record by six seconds.

This weekend in Clemson, Olympic-finalist Carlie Makarawu marks his return to action after a one-week hiatus. His previous outing came in Fayetteville, Ark. at the Razorback Invitational, finishing fourth in the 60m finals. Makarawu stills holds a share of third place among Division I athletes this season in the 200m with his 20.55 time at the Cory Classic on Jan. 17.

Following the regular season finale in Clemson and Boston, the Wildcats will begin postseason competition at the SEC Indoor Championships on Feb. 27-Mar. 1 in Bryan-College Station, Texas at the Fasken Indoor Track and Field Facility on the campus of Texas A&M University.
