Georgia Amoore Selected to the Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Women's College Player of the Year Midseason Team
ATLANTA – Georgia Amoore has been selected to the 2025 Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Women’s College Player of the Year Midseason Team, it was announced by the Atlanta Tipoff Club on Wednesday.
The prestigious Naismith Trophy symbolizes excellence, tradition and prestige. The annual award will be presented to the most outstanding women’s basketball player who achieves tremendous on-court success in 2024-25.
This season, Amoore is averaging 19.2 points per game and 7.4 assists per game through 22 contests. Even better, in Southeastern Conference action she is putting up 22.2 points per game and 7.6 assists per game through 10 contests.
Her 7.4 assists per game are second in the nation, but first in the SEC, while she has led the nation for much of the season. If the season ended today, her 7.4 assists per game would break the long-standing school record for assists per game. Moreover, with her 162 total assists on the season, she just moved into the program’s single-season top 10 list.
In 16-of-22 games this season, she has dished out at least seven assists.
Amoore also has scored in double digits in all but one game this season. Moreover, she has produced at least 20 points in 11 games this season. She is recently coming off a career-high and school-record-tying 43 points at No. 13/12 Oklahoma on Feb. 2. Her 43 points came from 15-of-22 from the field, including 7-of-12 from long range, while adding 6-of-8 at the line.
The graduate guard became just the fifth player in Division I this season to score as many as 43 points, and just the second in the SEC.
In that game, she added eight assists, becoming the lone player in program history – and the lone player in the league since at least 2002-03 – to drop 43 points and deliver eight assists in a single game.
Furthermore, Amoore has had three games this season with at least seven three-point field goals. She is the lone player in program history to record three games with at least seven 3-pointers in a single season (Belmont, Mississippi State, at Oklahoma).
Overall in 2024-25, the Wildcat has recorded 14 games with at least 15 points and five assists.
