Anthony Davis, Tyler Herro Tabbed NBA All-Stars
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The NBA head coaches have selected Kentucky legends Anthony Davis and Tyler Herro as reserves for the 2025 NBA All-Star Game, it was announced Thursday night on TNT.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Karl-Anthony Towns were named all-star starters last week, meaning Kentucky products account for four of this year’s 24 all-stars, the most among any college program.
This year’s revamped all-star event will take place Feb. 16 at the Chase Center, home of the Golden State Warriors, and feature a mini tournament with four teams and three games.
For Davis, this year’s selection marks his 10th to the NBA All-Star game, the most ever by a Kentucky men’s basketball alumni. Now in his 13th NBA season overall, and sixth with the Los Angeles Lakers, Davis is averaging 25.7 points per game, 11.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.1 blocks. He is one of three players in the NBA to rank in the top 10 in both points and rebounds per game alongside Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo. In 42 games played this season, Davis has registered 30 or more points 18 times and 40 or more on three occasions. He was the 2017 NBA All-Star Game MVP while playing with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Davis was named the National Player of the Year and the 2012 NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player after leading Kentucky to the 2012 national championship. He started all 40 games for the Wildcats that season, leading the team in both points per game (14.2) and rebounds per game (10.4), while also breaking the UK single-season blocks record with 186 swats.
Herro, a star on the 2018-19 Kentucky Wildcats team, earns his first career all-star selection in what is his sixth NBA season for the Miami Heat. It has been a career year for the 25-year-old who is averaging career bests in points (24.1), rebounds (5.6), assists (5.4), field-goal percentage (.474) and 3-point field-goal percentage (.400).
At Kentucky, Herro was an All-Southeastern Conference Second Team and All-Freshman Team selection, starting all 37 games and averaging 14.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists as the Cats reached the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament.
Kentucky has had 20 players combine for 56 NBA All-Star selections all time. This year’s four selections come on the heels of Kentucky’s record-breaking seven all-stars last season.
All-Star Game team general managers Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny Smith will draft their respective teams from the 24-player pool on Thursday, Feb. 6 on TNT.
Kentucky products Cason Wallace and Reed Sheppard will also be involved in the NBA All-Star Weekend festivities as selections to the 2025 Castrol Rising Stars.
