Jack Loutit Earns First Career SEC Player of the Week Honor

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Sophomore Jack Loutit has been named the Week Two SEC Player of the Week for his performances during Kentucky’s winning run at the 2025 Lexington ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Auckland, New Zealand native posted a perfect 4-0 weekend across singles and doubles, posting the clinching point in the Wildcats’ 4-0 win over No. 20 Arizona State in the regional championship match.

Loutit continued his winning ways to open 2025, moving to 5-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles on the dual season. The Kiwi won both of his matches with fellow sophomore Eli Stephenson to help the Cats win the doubles point in both duals during the Cats’ winning run at ITA Kickoff Weekend. The duo only dropped five games over the two sets and clinched the doubles point for Kentucky in its opening round match against Santa Clara.

In singles, Loutit started the weekend at Court No. 2, dominating Santa Clara’s Lukas Maskow 6-0, 6-1 to extend his set win streak to eight to start the season. In Saturday’s championship match against No. 20 Arizona State, Loutit played the No. 3 Singles match against Nicola Cigna, suffering his first set loss of the season before rallying to claim the clinching point in the 4-0 win that secured Kentucky’s 24th all-time appearance at the ITA Indoor National Championships.

This season, Loutit already has a ranked win over No. 40 Matthew Forbes of Michigan State and qualified for the NCAA Singles Championship.

This is Loutit’s second career weekly honor from the league office after being named SEC Freshman of the Week on April 15, 2024 after clinching Kentucky’s perfect SEC regular season in Kentucky’s 4-3 win over No. 6 Tennessee. Loutit was an SEC All-Freshman Team member a season ago.

Loutit has also been named to the New Zealand Davis Cup Team for the second time this season and will represent his country this weekend as they compete against Jamaica in World Group II Playoff action. The tie will be played from February 1-2 at the Eric Bell National Tennis Centre in Kingston. In his maiden Davis Cup appearance, Loutit defeated Chris Rodesch of Luxembourg in his singles rubber last September.

The eighth-ranked Wildcats will return to the court this weekend, hosting Memphis—a NCAA Tournament team from a season ago—on Thursday, January 30 at 5 p.m. ET before traveling to in-state rival Louisville on Sunday, February 2 at Noon ET.

All home matches will be played at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex and admission is free to the public for all regular season contests. A live stream will be provided for all home matches on UKAthletics.com.
