Packed the LAC for Senior Day

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Wildcats hosted the Louisville Cardinals for the final home meet of the 2024-2025 season at the Lancaster Aquatic Center. Kentucky came up short against Louisville with final scores 206-94 for the women and 192-108 for the men.

In the diving events, the Wildcats had a strong turnout. Kristy Pfaff secured first place in 3M diving, scoring 319.35. Abby Devereaux follows in second place, with a score of 309.75. Abby Devereaux was second in the 1M diving event as well, scoring 284.70. As for the men, Sam Duncan dominated the 1M, with a score of 359.40, nearly 30 points more than second place. Gavin Hang narrowly missed first place in the 3M, with a score of 349.65. Sam Duncan followed in third in the 3M, with a score of 347.33.

The swimming events featured personal bests, and podium finishes for the Cats. The first win of the day came from Carson Hick in the 1000 Freestyle, hitting a school record and personal best of 8:45.73. Following close behind was Levi Sandidge in second place, with a new personal best and top-10 time of 8:46.85. On the women’s side, Grace Frericks secured first place in the 100 Backstroke, with a time of 52.79. With a time of 59.83, the only woman of the day to go under a minute, Bridget Engel took first in the 100 Breaststroke. Ryan Merani took his first of two wins of the day in the 200 Butterfly, with a time of 1:42.91.

Narrowly missing the podium, Frericks swam a time of 49.02, a personal best in the 100 Freestyle. Sammie Hamilton secured an NCAA Standard B cut in the 500 Freestyle, racing to the wall with a 4:45.90. In the 500 Freestyle, Sandidge not only secured a win but recorded a new personal best time of 4:16.79, coming in as the new fourth fastest time in school history. To round out the day, Merani finished strong in the 200 IM, posting a 1:45.68 to give the Wildcats their final event win.

The meet featured 32 events, with the Wildcats claiming victory to a fourth of them. Event winners can be found below. Kentucky Swim/Dive will now turn its focus to the post-season as the team prepares for SEC Championships beginning February 17th in Athens, GA.
