Big Blue Preview: No. 11/11 Kentucky Women’s Basketball Returns Home to Play Host to Arkansas
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 11/11 University of Kentucky women’s basketball program returns home to play host to Arkansas on Sunday, Jan. 26 at noon ET in Historic Memorial Coliseum. It is the first of two straight home games for the Wildcats.
Sunday will mark the annual We Back Pat game, as the program aims to bring awareness to research, care and education surrounding Alzheimer’s disease. The game will focus on highlighting the effects of the disease and those that actively fight in our community.
Big Blue Nation can still purchase single-game tickets to most of the program’s remaining home games this season. To shop single-game tickets, click here. For a full list of the program’s Southeastern Conference promotional lineup, click here.
Darren Headrick will have the radio call for UK Sports Network, his eighth straight season as the voice of the Wildcats. His call will be carried on 630 AM WLAP (Lexington) and 790 AM WKRD (Louisville).
Big Blue Nation also can watch the game on SEC Network, with Courtney Lyle and Carolyn Peck on the call.
Kentucky is coming off just its second loss of the season and its first loss in the Southeastern Conference.
Despite the defeat, UK, under the new leadership of head coach Kenny Brooks, earned its third-best start to a season in program history with its 16-1 record and its third-best start to conference action in program history with its 5-0 record.
The Wildcats dropped a physical game to the Aggies, 61-55, in Bryan-College Station, Texas, last Thursday. The Cats shot a season-low 31.3 percent from the field, while also recording a season-low one 3-pointer and a season-low eight assists.
UK has only shot under 40.0 percent from the field twice this season, which also were its only pair of losses in 2024-25.
Teonni Key, junior forward, led in scoring for the first time this season, putting up a career-high 20 points. She added nine rebounds and one steal. With her performance, all five starters have logged at least one 20-plus point game this season. They are the eighth team to do so in more than two decades, since 2002-03.
Despite the loss, UK still won several categories at TAMU, including the battle on the boards, second-chance points, turnovers, points off turnovers and fastbreak points.
Kentucky is currently tied for second in the league with LSU and Texas. That trio of teams own 5-1 records in the SEC. South Carolina is atop the league standings as the lone undefeated team at 7-0. Just below UK is Alabama and Ole Miss with 4-1 records in the SEC.
Following the matchup Sunday, the Wildcats’ nine remaining regular-season conference games are against six ranked opponents. Four of those matchups will be hosted in Historic Memorial Coliseum.
This is the 43rd all-time meeting between Kentucky and Arkansas. The Wildcats lead the Razorbacks, 26-16, in the series, which began in 1983. The Cats also lead the Hogs, 17-4, in Lexington.
Kentucky dropped the last matchup against Arkansas, 88-61, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, last January, while the two teams have split the last six meetings, winning every other game.
