Kentucky Swimming & Diving Prepares for Senior Day Against Louisville

LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the last time this season, Kentucky swimming & diving is back at home at the Lancaster Aquatic Center on Saturday, Jan. 25 to host Louisville for a senior day celebration. The senior day recognition will air on SEC Network+ starting at 12:40 p.m. with the meet to follow. Admission will be free for those who attend and the meet can also be followed along on DiveMeets and the Meet Mobile app.

The senior day is set to recognize nine individuals and their accomplishments in and out of the pool beginning at 12:40 p.m. Kentucky seniors to be recognized include: Caroline Benda, Nick Caruso, Kaelan Daly, Abby Devereaux, Jack Hamilton, Olivia Mendenhall, Jackson Mussler, Chris Nagy, and Maddie Welborn. The fifth-year student-athletes and student managers will also be recognized for their hard work and contribution to the program.

Coming off a weekend of record-breaking performances versus Auburn and Cincinnati, the Wildcats look to continue their success on both the women’s and men’s sides. The three new top-10 additions to the all-time list were highlighted by a school record-breaking performance by sophomore Carson Hick in the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 8:46.08. Gavin Hang (390.45) and Kristy Pfaff (309.75) were also added to those lists on the diving board, and Libby Grether in the 1000 Freestyle as well.

On the women’s side, Kentucky fell to No. 19 Auburn 163-137 and defeated Cincinnati 179-116. Grether swam great last weekend as noted, as did Bridget Engel. Engel won the 200 breast at both meets and Billie Sherratt notched two weekend wins in the 200 fly. Abby Devereaux had two impressive performances additionally, securing first place in the 3-meter diving in both meets.

The Kentucky men’s team fell to No. 14 Auburn 179-121 in Hick’s historic performance, but secured the win at Cincinnati. Ryan Merani picked up two wins in both the 200 fly and 400 IM, Hick added to his success with two wins in the 500 free, and on the boards diver Sam Duncan won the 1-meter twice.

The Saturday matchup against Louisville will mark the last home meet for the Wildcats this season. Both the Cardinals men’s and women’s teams were featured in the most recent poll of the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Top 25. The men stand at No. 10 and the women currently are No. 8 in the country. The Wildcat men’s team received votes in the poll but found themselves just outside.

The meet is set for a 1 p.m. start at the Lancaster Aquatic Center, with the senior festivities beginning at 12:40 p.m. Live results will be available via Meet Mobile and DiveMeets as well as a stream on SEC Network+.
