BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 11/11 University of Kentucky women’s basketball program is on the road again for a contest against Texas A&M at Reed Arena in Bryan-College Station, Texas, on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. ET.
Big Blue Nation interested in attending the game at Texas A&M can purchase tickets here.
Darren Headrick will have the radio call for UK Sports Network, his eighth straight season as the voice of the Wildcats. His call will be carried on 630 AM WLAP (Lexington) and 790 AM WKRD (Louisville).
Big Blue Nation also can watch the game on SEC Network, with Eric Frede and Christy Thomaskutty on the call.
The Wildcats are 16-1 overall, 5-0 in the league ad 4-1 on the road as they prepare for their second straight away game in the Southeastern Conference. The Cats, under the new guidance of head coach Kenny Brooks, are turning heads in the league in 2024-25, earning their third-best start to a season – through 17 games – in program history and their third-best start to league action – through five SEC games – in program history.
In fact, 15 of their 16 wins have come by at least 10 points, while 12 of their 16 wins have come by at least 16 points. Furthermore, all five of their league wins have come by at least 14 points for the first time in program history.
Kentucky travels to Texas A&M on a nine-game win streak, tied for the 11th best win streak in program history. With a triumph on Thursday, UK could improve to a 10-game win streak, which it hasn’t done since Spring 2022, and that was en route to claiming the 2022 SEC Tournament crown in Nashville, Tennessee.
While all five of UK’s starters are scoring in double digits and passing the ball well enough to rank sixth in the nation in assists per game (19.4), the team also is getting noticed for its defensive efforts, too. UK has held 13 of its 17 opponents to under 39.0 percent shooting from the field, including all five of its SEC opponents. UK’s 34.4 field-goal percentage defense is ranked 12th in the nation and second in the conference.
Meanwhile, the Cats are still leading the nation in blocks per game with 7.1.
Going into Game 18, All-American Georgia Amoore paces the team and ranks high in the nation in numerous categories, including 18.5 points per game, 7.4 assists per game, 2.6 three-point field goals per game and 1.1 steals per game. She recently was named to the John R. Wooden Award Top 25 Midseason Watch List, which is awarded to the most outstanding player in women’s college basketball each year. Clara Strack rounds out the remaining statistical categories, leading her team with 9.8 rebounds per game and 42 blocks.
In fact, the teammates are coming off a pair of 20-plus point performances in a win at Georgia on Sunday. It marked the first time in more than two decades that two UK players scored at least 24 points each in a conference road game since SeSe Helm and Sara Potts did so at Ole Miss on Feb. 1, 2004.
The upcoming game will mark the 15th all-time meeting between Kentucky and Texas A&M. UK trails the all-time meetings with TAMU, 9-5, in a series that began in 2013. Kentucky also trails Texas A&M in Bryan-College Station, Texas, 4-3.
The Wildcats have lost eight of the last nine games against the Aggies, including the last four straight. The Cats last defeated the Aggs in a 76-54 outcome on Jan. 16, 2020 at home. The Cats last defeated the Aggs in Bryan-College Station in a 71-58 outcome on Feb. 28, 2016.
