Kentucky Men’s Tennis Releases 2025 Schedule
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky Men’s Tennis program released its 2025 on Tuesday morning, head coach Cedric Kauffmann announced. Featured on the season slate are nine matches against teams ranked in the ITA Preseason Coaches Poll, with the possibility for more via ITA Kickoff Weekend and the ITA Indoor Nationals. The addition of Texas and Oklahoma to the league, a pair of top ten programs, will increase the amount of conference matches from 12 to 14.
The Wildcats enter the 2025 season on the heels of a stellar 2024 campaign that featured the program’s third straight trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals, as well as a sweep of the Southeastern Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships. Returning from last year’s squad are All-SEC performers Charlelie Cosnet and Jaden Weeks and All-SEC Freshman Team members Jack Loutit and Eli Stephenson. Cosnet and Stephenson will serve as captains for the upcoming season.
The season will open on January 15, as Kentucky hosts Northern Kentucky and Xavier for a doubleheader at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex in Lexington. The Cats will close out the opening week of the season with a ranked road test, taking on No. 23 Michigan State in East Lansing on January 17.
The following week, Kentucky will once again serve as a host site for the ITA Kickoff Weekend, welcoming No. 18 Arizona State, Nebraska, and Santa Clara to the Boone. The Cats will take on the Broncos on Friday, January 24 in a First Round matchup, with the Sun Devils and Cornhuskers squaring off in the day’s other regional semifinal. The two winners will play in the Regional Championship match on January 25 with a ticket to the ITA Indoor National Championships on the line. The two losers from Friday will also play a consolation match on Saturday.
Following ITA Kickoff Weekend, Kentucky will host [rv] Memphis on January 30 before traveling to the Derby City to take on Louisville on February 2. Should the Wildcats advance out of ITA Kickoff Weekend, they will contest the ITA Indoor Nationals from February 14-17 in Dallas, Texas and Waco, Texas. The non-conference portion of the schedule will conclude on February 19 as Dayton heads down Interstate 75 for a doubleheader.
SEC action will commence on February 24 as No. 11 Mississippi State travels to the Boone. The Cats will face two more ranked foes to start the SEC season, traveling to No. 24 Florida on February 28 and hosting No. 14 South Carolina on March 2.
Kentucky will embark on its first two-match road stretch of the season in March, facing [rv] Georgia in Athens on March 7 and No. 13 Tennessee in Knoxville on March 9. The Cats will return to the Boone the following weekend, hosting [rv] LSU on March 13 and Vanderbilt on March 15.
The Cats will face their longest stretch away from home at the end of March, playing four road matches in 11 days from March 20-March 30. First, the team will head south for two matches in Alabama, taking on Auburn on March 20 before heading to Tuscaloosa to face the No. 19 Crimson Tide on March 22. The following weekend will see the Cats dance a Lone Star State two-step, playing at No. 1 Texas on March 28 and at No. 14 Texas A&M on March 30.
Kentucky will return home to close out the 2025 regular season, playing Ole Miss on April 3, No. 10 Oklahoma on April 10, and Arkansas on April 12 at the Boone. The 2025 SEC Tournament will be played in Columbia, S.C. from April 16-20.
