Logan Dorsey Drafted to Minnesota United FC in 2025 MLS SuperDraft

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Logan Dorsey has been selected by Minnesota United FC as the 55th overall pick in the second round of the 2025 MLS SuperDraft.

“Very excited for Logan,” head coach Johan Cedergren said. “I look forward to following his professional career with Minnesota. I know he will do great things.”

A senior forward from Evergreen, Co., Dorsey had a standout senior season with the Wildcats. A United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Men’s All-Southeast Region Second Team member, Sun Belt Conference First Team and Sun Belt All-Conference Tournament honoree, Dorsey was no stranger to national recognition for his efforts on the pitch.

In the 2024 conference tournament, Kentucky scored two goals in two matches – both scored by the senior. A successful penalty kick in the quarterfinal contest earned Dorsey his fifth game-winning score of the season to advance UK to the semifinal match where he scored his 14th and final goal of the year. Dorsey led the 2024 squad in goals-scored while also recording three assists, 50 shots and 29 shots on goal for a combined 31 points.

Graduating with a bachelor’s degree in psychology earlier Friday afternoon, the senior has also been a strong competitor in the classroom. Dorsey was named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America Second Team and the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District and Academic All-America Third Teams following his final semester.

Dorsey joins a long list of Wildcats in the pros as Kentucky has seen 23 student-athletes playing professional soccer since Coach Cedergren took over the helm of the program in 2012. The Wildcat forward also joins his older brother, Griffin, in the MLS who currently plays for the Houston Dynamo.
