Kentucky Diver Avery Giese Concludes World Aquatics Junior Diving Championships

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Freshman Avery Giese completed her week at the 2024 World Aquatics Junior Diving Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil today with a 14th-place finish in the 3-meter synchronized final scoring 190.80 points alongside teammate Gianna Kendrick.

The freshman competed in two other events earlier this week racking up a 9th-place finish in the 1-meter springboard final and a 12th-place finish in the 3-meter springboard final. Incoming freshman and UKSD signee Zalika Methula represented South Africa at the competition placing 13th in the 3-meter synchronized final and 35th in the 3-meter springboard prelims.

Giese is a five-time USA Diving junior national champion winning the 1-meter championship in 2019 and 2023, the 3-meter championship in 2024, and the 3-meter synchronized championship in 2023 and 2024. In 2023, she took silver at the 2023 Junior Pan American Championships in the 1-meter and 3-meter synchronized events. This will be Giese’s sixth appearance representing the junior national team.

3-meter Springboard Prelims – 10th (374.85)

3-meter Synchronized final – 14th (190.80)
