Women’s Tennis Closes Fall Season in Athens, Ga.

ATHENS, Ga. – Kentucky women’s tennis completed the fall match slate with two tournaments, ITA Sectional Championships and the Bulldog Invitational, held in Athens, Ga. at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

Zoe Hammond and Julia Zhu represented the Wildcats in the ITA Sectional Championships while Lizzy Stevens made a fall appearance at the Bulldog Invitational.

“The team had a productive week in Athens competing against the top talent in the Southeast,” said assistant coach Stephen Ward. “Lizzy, Julia and Zoe represented their teammates, the program, as well as the University of Kentucky, in spades.”

ITA Sectional Championships

Thursday – Nov. 7

Zhu (Kentucky) def. Kate Sharabura (Georgia Tech) 3-6, 7(7)-6(3), 6-2

Alicia Dudney (Florida) def. Hammond (Kentucky) 2-6, 7(7)-6(5), 4-6

Friday – Nov. 8

Valeria Ray (Vanderbilt) def. Zhu (Kentucky) 4-6, 6(5)-7(7)

Bulldog Invitational

Thursday – Nov. 7

Romana Cisovska (Clemson) def. Stevens (Kentucky) 4-6, 4-6

“The adrenaline from Athens will help springboard our training to close the calendar year with eyes on our opener in January,” stated Ward.
