Logan Dorsey Named Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky men’s soccer forward Logan Dorsey has been named Offensive Player of the Week, the Sun Belt Conference announced on Thursday afternoon.
Throughout his senior season, Dorsey has recorded 12 goals and three assists. In his most recent appearance on the pitch, he recorded his second hat trick of the season, and of his college career, in Kentucky’s 7-4 win at Georgia State. The Wildcat also recorded an assist to add to the night’s impressive performance to close out the regular season schedule.
Dorsey’s first hat trick was scored last month at The Bell Soccer Complex as the Cats earned a 5-0 victory against Coastal Carolina.
“A second hat-trick is a huge accomplishment for Logan,” head coach Johan Cedergren said. “To score one hat-trick is impressive, but two in a single season is even more remarkable. It is a true testament to the hard work he puts in every day.”
Dorsey became the 11th Wildcat in program history to record three goals in one match during the contest against the Chanticleers. However, he set a new program record with his second hat trick becoming the first Wildcat to score two in a singular season, but also in a Kentucky career.
His hat trick against Coastal was the first for the program since the 2022 season when Ben Damge scored three goals against Georgia Southern on Oct. 9. Damge became the first Wildcat to score three in a game since Tyler Riggs on Nov. 3, 2013 against Florida Atlantic. Chris Soler has the school record having scored four vs. Georgetown on Oct. 17, 2001.
The Evergreen, Co. native becomes the first Wildcat to score a goal in four consecutive matches since Kalil ElMedkhar in the 2019 season.
In addition to 12 goals and three assists, he has also tallied 42 shots with 26 on goal for 27 points this season. As a senior, Dorsey has tripled his offensive stats only seeing four goals scored in his junior showing. The conference honor is the second of his college career. He was named Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week following his first hat trick in October.
“Very proud of him,” Cedergren stated. “Excited to see what he will do on Sunday in the first round of the conference tournament.”
No. 4- seed Kentucky will head to Morgantown, W.Va. on Sunday to face five-seed South Carolina at 7 p.m. EST at the Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
