Emma Grome Named SEC Player and Setter of the Week
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Senior setter Emma Grome was named the Southeastern Conference’s Player of the Week and Setter of the Week on Monday afternoon, the league announced. The setter of the week honor is Grome’s 19th in her four-year career as a Wildcat.
Grome had 12.33 assists over the weekend as Kentucky completed a 5-0 road trip with wins over South Carolina and Georgia. Grome capped off the road trip with 40 assists vs. Georgia, a new season-high for a three-set match as UK hit .356 as a team thanks to her efficiency and swept the Bulldogs in the Classic City. Grome also had three blocks in the match vs. Georgia along with her fifth double-double of the season Friday night vs. South Carolina as she added in 10 digs with her 34 assists against the Gamecocks.
Grome helped guide Kentucky to a 2-0 week with wins over USC and Georgia as UK has now won five matches in a row and leads the Southeastern Conference with an 8-2 league record. The Missouri Tigers are a half game behind the Wildcats with a 7-2 league mark.
Kentucky opens a five-match homestand beginning Friday night at 7 p.m. ET against Texas A&M. The match will be shown on SEC Network+ and the ESPN app with coverage kicking off at the top of the hour.
