Wildcats Compete in Fall Finale at Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate Invitational
FORT WORTH, Texas – The University of Kentucky women’s golf team will compete in its final tournament of the fall season at the Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate Invitational at Ridglea Country Club North Course (par 71, 6,298 yards) in Fort Worth, Texas, on Oct. 28-29. The Wildcats and 10 others teams will tee it up for 36 holes Monday and 18 holes Tuesday.
It will mark UK’s first appearance at the prestigious event, hosted by TCU, while it will be making a second appearance at the spring iteration of the event at the famous Colonial Country Club next March.
The Wildcats will tee off in the first round Monday at 9:30 a.m. ET, in a shotgun format, paired with hosts TCU and Wake Forest. The second round will follow, also in a shotgun format, shortly after.
Eleven teams will take the field at the Charles Schwab Women’s Collegiate Invitational, including No. 24 Baylor, Kentucky, Oklahoma, No. 21 Oklahoma State, Rutgers, SMU, No. 23 TCU, No. 19 Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Tulsa and No. 15 Wake Forest. UK has only met four of those teams this season, including Baylor, TCU, Texas A&M and Wake Forest.
The Wildcats will sport their fourth different lineup this season, as the new roster is bolstered with five competitive freshmen. The Cats will travel with Elin Pudas Remler, Marta López Echevarría, Cathryn Brown, Brooke Oberparleiter and Anastasia Hekkonen for the fall finale.
Pudas Remler, a rookie from Gothenburg, Sweden, was named Southeastern Conference Freshman Golfer of the Week last week, for her 10th-place finish on a 3-over tournament total in the elite field at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational. She leads the team with all rounds counted toward the team total, four rounds of par-or-better and a 72.2 stroke average.
Brown also has four rounds of par-or-better through just nine rounds in 2024-25. Just two tournaments ago, the sophomore from Eddyville, Kentucky, rattled off three rounds under par, including a personal-best, 6-under-par 66 in the final round at the Mason Rudolph Championship. She finished in 11th place at the Franklin, Tennessee, event on an 8-under, both of which marked her career bests.
For the first time this fall, all three veterans will compete in the lineup this week, including Brown, sophomore Oberparleiter and senior López Echevarría. The one appearance Oberparleiter made this season at the Mason Rudolph, López Echevarría sat out with an injury. Oberparleiter shot a career-best, 2-over tournament total there, finishing in a tie for 42nd place.
López Echevarría, the team’s lone senior, has put herself in the top 20 in each of her two appearances this fall. Her 1-over tournament total in the season opener at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational marked her career best, too, which helped her to a fifth-place finish in the home event.
Hekkonen, just a 17-year-old freshman, will make her lineup debut this week. She played as an individual in the season opener at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational, stringing together rounds of 79, 72, and 75 for a 10-over for the Helsinki, Finland, native.
The field can expect sunny skies, with temperatures in the upper 80s and lower 90s on Monday and Tuesday.
