Swim & Dive Sweeps West Virginia in Home Opener
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky swimming & diving swept West Virginia in a dual meet Friday afternoon at the Lancaster Aquatic Center. The men’s side won with a final score of 168-132 and the women finished 222-77 against the Mountaineers. The men pick up their first win of the season while it’s the second victory in a row for the women. The program won a combined 25 events on the afternoon with the women winning 15 events to the men’s 10.
The wins today included the women’s 100 back, 100 breast, 100 free, 200 back, 200 breast, 200 IM, and men’s 100 fly while both sides swept the 400 medley relay, 1650 free, 200 free, 200 fly, 50 free, 500 free, 200 free relays, and both 1-meter and 3-meter diving.
Both Levi Sandidge and Carson Hick earned NCAA “B” cuts in the 1650 free with times of 15:00.74 and 15:15.90 respectively.
On the boards, Sam Duncan posted both NCAA zone standard scores, achieving 1-meter and 3-meter marks. Duncan reached the 1-meter mark of 300 points after scoring 319.88 points in the victory and reached the 3-meter mark of 320 points after scoring 331.73 points in a second-place finish. Abby Devereaux added her name into the mix for zones after qualifying in the 3-meter with a score of 276.53.
Kentucky will now prepare for the Tennessee Invite in Knoxville, Tennessee from November 20-22.
