LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky men’s soccer freshmen Agustin Lopez and Eric Onos have cracked the Top Drawer Soccer Midseason Freshman Top 100, TDS announced on Monday.
Lopez found himself in the Top 50 with a ranking of No. 35 while Onos found himself in the Top 100 sitting at No. 72.
No. 35 Agustin Lopez
Lopez, a freshman from Santa Fe, Argentina, has had an impressive start to his college career. The 5’9 155 lb. midfielder has so far recorded one goal which was against Virginia Tech at the beginning of the season. Since then, he has tallied 21 shots with seven on goal for the Wildcats.
“Agu has been a really dynamic player for us this season,” said head coach Johan Cedergren. “He is quick on his attack and presents a lot of challenges for the opposing defense. Ranking at 35 in the midseason top-100 is a great honor and I’m excited to see what he continues to do for the remainder of the season.”
No. 72 Eric Onos
Onos, a native of Buchen, Germany, has recorded one goal and two assists for Kentucky in a strong start to his freshman season. His first Wildcat goal was scored against Lipscomb while both of his assists took place at South Carolina. The 5’7 155 lb. midfielder/forward has tallied 14 shots with four on goal.
“Eric is having an impressive start to his Wildcat career,” stated Cedergren. “His two assists at South Carolina were great examples of how his attention to detail in our set pieces creates opportunities. Ranking No. 72 at the midseason point makes me look forward to his continued growth and where he will be at the end of this season.”
The Wildcats will travel to Central Florida on Wednesday for the second match of a two-game Sun Belt road trip. The Cats and Knights will go head-to-head at 7 p.m. EST.
