Men’s Golf Hits Windy City for Windon Memorial Classic
LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Kentucky men’s golf finds itself in suburban Chicago where the Wildcats will tee it up at the 2024 Windon Memorial Classic at Conway Farms Golf Club this Sunday and Monday.
Hosted by Northwestern, the event features 16 schools and 54 holes of golf across two days. Competitors will play 36 holes on Sunday, starting with a 9:30 a.m. ET shotgun start, before the final round takes place on Monday with tee times beginning at 8:55 a.m. ET.
Kentucky is coming off an 11th place showing at the Bearcat Invitational two weeks ago, totaling a team score of 869 (+17) in Cincinnati. Four of the five starters from the Bearcat return to the UK lineup this week as Jack Schoenberger, Jansen Preston, Jackson Klutznick and Gavin Clutts are all set to make their third starts of the fall season. Redshirt sophomore Solomon Petrie is back in the lineup as well for what will be his second tournament this fall.
Schoenberger, in his first year with the Cats after transferring from Belmont, leads Kentucky on the young season with a 72.00 scoring average. The junior has managed top 20 finishes in both tournaments this fall, extending his streak of consecutive top 20s to 16 straight events. Preston, the senior captain, and Klutznick, a grad transfer from Emory, each have one top 20 to their names on the year and have combined for five of Kentucky’s six rounds of par-or-better. Petrie was a counting score in all three rounds for Kentucky at the Folds of Honor earlier this month, placing T-34 after three-straight rounds of 74. The freshmen Clutts has a 74.67 scoring average through his first two collegiate events, his best finish a T-42 result at the Folds of Honor.
This week’s host venue, Conway Farms Golf Club, has been the site of numerous premier golf tournaments, including hosting the PGA Tour’s BMW Championship in 2013, 2015 and 2017.
