Kentucky Swim & Dive Opens 2024-25 Season
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The 2024-25 swim and dive season is set to get underway as Kentucky prepares to kick off the year at the team’s annual blue/white intrasquad meet at Lancaster Aquatic Center, Friday, Sept. 20 at 4 p.m. Event admission is free to all fans.
The meet will be the first of several exciting events on the Wildcats calendar, including seven dual meets and numerous high-level invitationals.
During the dual meet portion of the schedule, Kentucky will take on seven schools including three Southeastern Conference members. Four of these matchups will be held at the Lancaster Aquatic Center as West Virginia, Tennessee, Auburn, and Louisville are all slated to make the journey to Lexington.
The Wildcats will also take part in the Tennessee and Georgia invitationals and will participate in a tri-meet with Purdue and Notre Dame’s women’s program.
This season’s postseason slate features the SEC Championship, Feb. 17-22, in Athens, Georgia, and the NCAA Championships, March 19-22 (women) and March 26-29 (men), both of which will be held in Federal Way, Washington.
Kentucky is coming off a transitional first season under Bret Lundgaard in the 2023-24 year which saw three men and two women compete at the NCAA Championships and 12 take part in the Olympic Trials ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Looking to build off these results, Kentucky returns 44 student-athletes from the 2023-24 team including fifth-years Max Berg, Torie Buerger, Sam Duncan, Bridget Engel, and Claire McDaniels. The Wildcats added seven transfers and 25 freshmen in the offseason.
The Blue/White meet events include the 400 MR, 1000 free, 200 free, 50 free, 200 IM, 200 fly, 100 free, 200 back, 500 free, 200 breast and 200 free relay.
