Men’s Soccer Records Draw in First Fall Road Test

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Kentucky men’s soccer (1-2-2) went head-to-head with Lipscomb (2-2-2) at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex on Saturday which resulted in a 2-2 draw.

The Wildcats were able to get an early goal to start the match as sophomore Isaiah Chisolm scored his second goal of the season in the sixth minute. He was assisted by Josh Gordon following a corner kick which the Ontario, Canada native connected with in the box allowing Chisolm the opportunity. Gordon’s assist was his third in five matches of the fall.

With the early advantage, the Cats wasted no time getting a second score on the board. Freshman newcomer Eric Onos recorded his first career Kentucky goal unassisted. His left-footed goal was scored from the top of the box to put UK up 2-0 in the 12’.

However, following the early advantage, Lipscomb was able to close the gap by one, scoring in the 27th minute. The goal was scored by Bubu Medina who was assisted by Camilo Estrada. The first 45′ of regulation expired as the score sat 2-1.

The second half of the contest remained scoreless as Kentucky keeper Casper Mols stopped a Lipscomb free kick in the 60th minute. It was in the 76’ that a foul on Marqes Muir allowed the Bison the opportunity to attempt a penalty kick. The shot was taken by Dan Karsten who successfully equalized the match, 2-2. Regulation completed with no further changes to the score.

The rivalry between the Wildcats and Bison began in 2016 which resulted in a 1-1 draw after two overtime periods. Since then, the teams have developed an all-time series record of 4-1-2 (UK) only playing at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex two times.

The Wildcats will return to The Bell Soccer Complex next Friday to begin Sun Belt Conference competition with a 7:30 p.m. EST matchup with Georgia Southern.
