Lamb’s 12 Kills Push No. 9 Kentucky Past James Madison in Sweep

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 9 Kentucky Volleyball team beat James Madison 3-0 (25-10, 25-20, 25-22) on Saturday afternoon in the second day of the 2024 Kentucky Invitational, sweeping the Dukes to get back in the win column.

Senior outside hitter Erin Lamb had 12 kills in the match to lead all players on both teams, as she hit .625 for the night with her 12 swings coming on just 16 sings with only a pair of errors. Lamb also had a block Saturday night as she put the punctuation mark on one of her most consistent performances of her career against the Dukes.

Brooklyn DeLeye also had a stellar Saturday night, going for 10 kills and four service aces with her 10 kills coming on a cool 20 swings with two assists and seven digs to go alongside. The Kentucky offense hummed to the clip of a .314 hitting percentage, including a .500 mark in the first set, in which Kentucky dominated, 25-10 to get out of the gates strong.

The Wildcats took two tighter sets in the second and third frames with JMU applying more pressure as the match went on. Sophomore libero helped keep the Dukes in check with only a .056 hitting percentage for the night with 12 digs, an ace and three assists. The Wildcats had six blocks in the match Saturday with RS-freshman Jordyn Dailey’s four leading the way for the evening.

The 2024 Kentucky Invitational concludes Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. ET against Ball State inside Historic Memorial Coliseum. The match will air live on SEC Network+ and the ESPN app. In the earlier match of the tournament Saturday, Penn State beat Ball State, 3-0.
