Four Wildcats Named ITA Scholar Athletes, Men’s Tennis Named ITA All-Academic Team

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Academic awards for Kentucky Men’s Tennis continued to pour in on Monday, as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released their 2024 All-Academic Awards listing. Christophe Clement, Matt Rankin, Jaden Weekes, and Tate Sandman were all named ITA Scholar Athletes for the 2024 season. The squad as a whole also picked up a laurel, being recognized as an All-Academic Team for the second consecutive season.

To qualify as a Scholar Athlete, players must earn a minimum GPA of 3.5 for the 2023-2024 academic year. All-Academic Teams must hold a cumulative team GPA of at least 3.2 for the 2023-2024 academic year.

Clement and Sandman each earned Scholar Athlete designations for the second time in their careers, while Rankin and Weekes each received their first career honor. All four recognized student-athletes were also honored by the SEC, with Clement and Sandman earning a spot on the 2024 Spring Academic Honor Roll while Rankin and Weekes earned places on the 2024 First-Year Academic Honor Roll. In addition to his hard work in the classroom, Weekes was also named Second Team All-SEC for the 2024 season.

In the past two seasons, in addition to being honored as an ITA All-Academic Team, the program has advanced to consecutive NCAA Quarterfinals, won consecutive SEC Tournament titles, and completed an undefeated run to the 2024 SEC Regular Season Championship.
