Brennan Canada, Grant Darbyshire Named to NABC Honors Court

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kentucky men’s basketball’s Brennan Canada and Grant Darbyshire have been selected to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court for the 2023-24 season, it was announced on Monday.

To be recognized with the distinction, players must be a junior, senior or graduate student in academic standing and have finished the 2023-24 season with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or higher.

The NABC’s academic awards include honorees from all levels of college basketball and more than 2,100 players earned spots on the NABC Honors Court this year.

Canada, who played his fifth and final season with the Wildcats in 2023-24, was honored by the NABC for the third straight year. Having completed his undergraduate degree in 2022, Canada earned a Master of Science in Kinesiology and Health Promotion this past May. The Mount Sterling, Kentucky native was a part of the 2024 Southeastern Conference Community Service Team and is a four-time SEC Academic Honor Roll awardee. Canada was also inducted into the Frank G. Ham Society of Character in the spring of 2022, the highest honor bestowed on UK student-athletes. On the court, Canada finished his career with 26 games played for the Blue and White.

Darbyshire earned his place on the Honors Court in his first year eligible as he continues to excel academically while working toward a degree in business administration and finance. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Darbyshire is a two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection and made four appearances on the court for Kentucky last season. He returns to UK in 2024-25 as a part of head coach Mark Pope’s inaugural roster.
