Incoming UK Rifle Freshmen Shine at CMP Nationals

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Several incoming freshmen that will officially join the University of Kentucky rifle program this fall shined at the 2024 Civilian Marksmanship Program National Championships this week.

Sam Adkins and Liz Probst, who signed with Kentucky in November 2023, headlined the results as walk-on Hannah Todd also performed well. All three participated in the 2024 CMP National Three-Position Air Rifle Championship, which is a two-day event with competitors shooting air rifle kneeling, prone and standing.

A total of 244 competitors competed in the event with Probst and Adkins finishing fourth and fifth overall in qualifying, respectively. Both scored a 1192 aggregate score with Probst earning 98x’s and Adkins 97. The impressive aggregates qualified both for the eight-person final. Adkins would win the final with a 466.5 score while Probst was sixth with a 422.7. Todd finished 55th in qualifying.

Probst and Adkins also led their club teams to success in the team rankings. Probst’s club Texas Hill Country Shooters 2 finished first overall in the team rankings, while Adkins’ Palmyra Junior Rifle Team Gold 1 finished fifth in the team rankings.
