Bailey Bunn and Isabella Magnelli Named CSC Academic All-District

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky gymnastics senior duo of Bailey Bunn and Isabella Magnelli were selected as College Sports Communicators Academic All-District nominees, the committee announced.

The 2024 Academic All-District® Men’s and Women’s At-Large teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes at-large honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Bunn, a senior from Greenville, N.C., graduated after four seasons with the Wildcats in May with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology. Throughout her gymnastics career, she competed in most meets on the uneven bars and balance beam, seeing career highs in her final season on both events. Following a season-ending injury early in her sophomore season, Bunn did not let adversity stop her as she made a big comeback continuing to be a consistent competitor in her junior and senior seasons. Bunn demonstrated both grit and determination as she excelled in the gym and in the classroom earning SEC Winter Sports Honor Roll and WCGA All-America Scholar-Athlete Team mentions, in addition to All-Freshman SEC honors in 2020.

Magnelli, a native of Suffern, N.Y., prepares to enter her fifth year as a Wildcat in 2024-25. She completed a bachelor’s degree in merchandising, apparel and textiles in December 2023 before beginning her Master of Science in marketing. Nicknamed “The Beam Queen,” Magnelli has been a standout on the beam for the Wildcats earning WCGA National Championship All-America First Team Beam and WCGA Regular Season All-America Second Team Beam honors her senior year. In her junior season, she earned WCGA All-America Second Team Beam and WCGA National Championship All-America First Team Beam recognition. The two-time All-SEC honoree has also earned academic recognition on the SEC Winter Sports Honor Roll and WCGA All-America Scholar-Athlete Team nods throughout her time as a Wildcat.

Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. NCAA and NAIA Women’s At-Large Academic All-America® First-, second- and third-team honorees will be announced on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. The Men’s At-Large Teams will be announced on Wednesday, July 17.
