Kentucky Women’s Basketball Signs 6-1 Guard Dominika Paurová

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s basketball program inked a 6-1 guard to its incoming class, head coach Kenny Brooks announced Friday. Dominika Paurová (pronounced like PAR-oh-VA) a 6-1 guard out of Oregon State, will join the program in 2024-25.

“I’m extremely excited to add Dom to our program,” Brooks said. “Her experience on an elite eight team will be valuable to us, and her contributions over the next three years will help us into the future. I love her passion and versatility.”

Dominika Paurová, a Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic, native, played one season at Oregon State in 2023-24. She played in all 35 games as a freshman, including all four games of Oregon State’s NCAA Tournament Elite Eight run.

During the season, she averaged 5.5 points per game, 2.1 rebounds per game and 1.4 assists per game in 16.4 minutes per game. She shot 48.0 percent from the field and 37.2 percent from the arc, knocking down 16 triples in 2023-24.

In her college debut, she recorded 13 points, five rebounds, three steals, an assist and a block to send Oregon State past Arkansas Pine Bluff on Nov. 6. She would go on to score in double digits in seven games last season, including a career-high 17 points in the NCAA Tournament First Round against Eastern Michigan. She hit three 3-pointers in that game.

Paurová also played on the Czech Republic U14, U15, U18, U19 and U20 teams from 2018-23. She also made the Czech Senior National team for FIBA Women’s Eurobasket qualifying.

She helped the U20 team reach the FIBA European Championships Division A title game in 2022. On that team, she put up 9.9 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game, as one of the youngest players in the entire field. On the U18 team, she was considered a most valuable player candidate at the FIBA European Championship in 2022, averaging 14.7 points per game and 9.3 rebounds per game at the tournament.

As a senior in high school, Paurová helped DME Academy to the Sunshine Independent Athletic Association State Championship. She averaged 11.5 points per game, 5.0 rebounds per game and 2.2 steals per game at DME in 2022-23.
