UKTF Alumna Ellen Ekholm to High Jump at European Championships
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky track & field alumna Ellen Ekholm (Class of 2021) is set to represent Sweden in her first European Championships tomorrow, Friday, June 7th at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Italy.
The 26th edition of the European Championships returns to Italy for the third time in its history after hosting the inaugural edition of the meet in 1934.
Ekholm qualified for her first European Championships via the World Rankings and begins the high jump competition with a two-group qualifier on Friday, June 7th at 2:30 p.m. ET. If she advances, she will take part in the event final on Sunday, June 9th at 2:30 p.m. ET.
While at the University of Kentucky, Ekholm was a two-time USTFCCCA All-American in the high jump earning three Southeastern Conference medals including back-to-back golds in the 2019 Outdoor and 2020 Indoor SEC Championships.
Ekholm represented Sweden at the European U20 Championships in 2015, earning high jump bronze.
