Alex Goff Becomes 11th All-American in Kentucky Men’s Golf History
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky men’s golf’s Alex Goff became the program’s 11th All-American selection all-time when the Golf Coaches Association of America announced the 2024 Division I PING All-America Teams on Wednesday.
The UK star was one of 32 collegiate golfers across the country to be named an All-American Honorable Mention by the GCAA, joining the 11 golfers on the first team and 10 apiece on both the second and third teams.
Goff, a PING All-Southeast Region pick each of the last two seasons, breaks through as an All-American after registering UK’s best single-season scoring average since at least 1993-94 with his 70.55 mark this year.
Goff joins Russ Cochran (1979), Grant Olen (1989), J.B. Holmes (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005), Matt Wells (2004), Andy Winings (2006), Matt Kohn (2006) and current assistant coach, Tyler “Chip” McDaniel (2016) as UK men’s golfers to be named All-Americans. The eight players combine for 11 All-American honors.
In 11 starts this season, Goff posted nine top-15 finishes and 23 rounds of par-or-better. He had three runner-up results in a matter of four starts this fall, placing tied for second at the Folds of Honor Collegiate, the Blessing Collegiate Invitational and the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational. Goff finished the season as the No. 39 ranked player in the country according to Scoreboard Powered by CLIPPD.
During his outstanding 2023-24 campaign, the Kings Mountain, N.C. native was named to the All-Southeastern Conference Second Team, selected as the SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year and placed on the watch list for both the Haskins and Ben Hogan awards.
Goff finished his Kentucky career with a 71.45 scoring average, the best mark at UK all-time (minimum 45 rounds) dating back to 1993-94. In 47 career events, he totaled 80 rounds of par-or-better, one win, six runner-up finishes, 16 top 10s and 30 top 20s.
