Gymnastics Falls to Razorbacks in Road Test
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – No. 6 Kentucky gymnastics (7-3, 4-2 SEC) fell to No. 16 Arkansas (6-5-1, 3-2-1 SEC) at Barnhill Arena on Friday, 197.400-197.150.
The Wildcats began the night on the uneven bars where they tallied a cumulative 49.275 to kick off the meet. Bailey Bunn was the top score of the Kentucky lineup with a 9.900 following a stick and point right at head coach Tim Garrison. The impressive mark tied her with Arkansas’ Jensen Scalzo for an overall second-place finish on the apparatus. Freshman Delaynee Rodriguez was the second best for UK with a 9.875. Jillian Procasky found herself back in the bar lineup this week scoring a 9.850. Leadoff Hailey Davis recorded a 9.825 while anchor Raena Worley earned a 9.800.
The second rotation of the night came to a close with a UK score of 49.075. Vault anchor Makenzie Wilson was the top score for the Cats with a 9.875 placing her fourth overall. Isabella Magnelli wasn’t far behind with a 9.850 for the fifth overall spot in the meet. Freshman Cecily Rizo and sixth-year senior Arianna Patterson both earned a 9.800 with Rodriguez (9.750) and Worley (9.700) closing out the event. Kentucky looked to gain momentum as they entered the third rotation behind 98.350-98.775.
On the floor exercise, the Wildcats did just that with a big 49.525 to put them back in the race against the Razorbacks. Worley was the top score with a 9.975 worthy routine earning a perfect score from one of the judges for the third consecutive week. Her top mark was also the top score of the meet tying Arkansas’ Frankie Price. Worley’s individual win on floor was the 23rd of her career. Brose was right on the fifth-year senior’s heels with a 9.950 for her energetic performance. Senior duo Magnelli and Davis each earned 9.900 with Wilson scoring a 9.800 and Rodriguez a 9.775.
After pushing ahead in the overall tally, the Wildcats entered the final rotation ahead 147.875-147.725. Beam Queens Magnelli and Bunn were the top scores of the meet each scoring 9.875. Magnelli earned her seventh career win on the event while Bunn earned her third. Brose and Worley doubled for a 9.850 while Patterson and Rodriguez both recorded a 9.825. As the rotation closed, the Wildcat lineup combined for a 49.275. However, the strong tally was not enough as the Razorbacks edged past the Cats, 197.400-197.150.
Fifth-year senior Worley earned her 27th career all-around title tallying 39.350.
Kentucky will be back in Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center for Senior Day on Sunday, March 3 at 2 p.m. EST. The meet against No. 5 Florida will be the final event of the Rupp Arena Women’s Sports Takeover.
