No. 24 Kentucky Heads to Karbach Round Rock Classic
No. 24 Kentucky will travel to the Karbach Round Rock Classic event in Texas this weekend riding the momentum of a rousing comeback on Tuesday night in its home opener. The Cats will face Kansas, Texas State and Washington State in the round robin format that opens Friday.
UK (4-0) opens against Washington State at 3 p.m. ET (2 p.m. locally) on Friday, takes on Texas State at 5 p.m. ET (4 p.m. locally) on Saturday and closes the event vs. Kansas at 1 p.m. ET (noon locally) on Sunday. All games in the classic are slated to be streamed live on D1Baseball.com. A subscription is needed to access the games. All three games will be available on the UK Sports Network, and 98.5 FM Lexington, with Dick Gabriel on the call.
On Tuesday, UK was frustrated throughout as it trailed Morehead State 5-2 through seven but exploded for a seven-run eighth inning to claim a 9-5 victory. Coupled with an opening weekend sweep at Big South favorite USC Upstate and the Cats are averaging 8.0 runs per game. UK also is 14-for-14 on stolen base attempts this season.
On the mound, all three starters earned a win last weekend and graduate transfer Johnny Hummel has been excellent in two appearances at the back end of games.
