Raena Worley Named SEC Co-Gymnast of the Week
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Fifth-year senior Raena Worley has been named Southeastern Conference Co-Gymnast of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday. She shares the weekly honor with Alabama’s Luisa Blanco.
Worley spent her first Friday Night Heights of the 2024 meet slate by securing the 22nd All-Around title of her career following a cumulative 39.650.
“It’s wonderful seeing Raena rewarded for her accomplishments,” head coach Tim Garrison said. “A behind-the-scenes look would reveal that she means so much more to this team than her competitive greatness.”
The Christiansburg, Va. native began her night at No. 12 Auburn on the uneven bars where she earned a 9.925 from the judges. The high score topped the event to give Worley her 10th individual win on the event.
In the second rotation of the evening, Worley vaulted her way to a 9.875 to tie for second overall. Her solid balance beam performance earned a 9.900 to tie her for second on that apparatus as well. Prior to her impressive score on beam, she tied fellow teammate Creslyn Brose for a win on floor. Her 9.950 increased her career victories on the event to a total of 18.
“She genuinely loves the sport, and her team, and she brings positivity to the gym every day,” Garrison expressed. “She lifts us all and we could not be more proud to be a part of her journey. Congratulations Worles!”
The Cats will head to No. 8 LSU on Friday for a 9 p.m. EST meet on SEC Network before kicking off the 2024 homestand Jan. 26 for Excite Night at Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center.
