On the Cats shooting 31% from the field…
“You know, I think we settled in offensively we didn’t execute well, and that’s on me. You know, we talked about taking the ball side to side, getting a reversal. Our shot selection was very important today. didn’t do a good job on that.”
On the team having 28 missed layups…
“We can’t be excited if we had 28 Miss layups so that’s fundamentals of the game. We got to get in there and make layups, we want to attack the paint. We got to be able to finish through contact, something that we work on in practice. So a mix of focus, and we just got to be able to finish with contact but no, no one would be excited with having 28 Miss layups, you win with layups free throws, and good defense.”
On knowing how long Maddie would be out and her status…
“Well, she’s day to day right now our medical team will continue to evaluate her obviously we miss having her on the floor, but the most important thing is for her to get healthy and we have an unbelievable medical staff.”
On biggest adjustments to make with Maddie being out…
“Well, one she brings us a calmness on the floor as a veteran experience knowing what we’re looking for the nuances of the offense. And her ability to score at all three levels. And she understands how to make plays defensively. So she was a big piece that we actually missed tonight. However, we always say next man up we need to step up everybody star in their role, but the bottom line is we just didn’t get the job done tonight. And we go back to work.”
On the vibe of the fourth quarter…
“I thought we made a run. It wasn’t like we quit, we just didn’t start out the gate with the intensity we needed to play for 40 minutes and it cost us tonight.”
On Saniah Tyler’s growth since joining the team…
“Saniah is really growing in her role. Her ability to score is what we need. She can score at all three levels and she can give us some defensive intensity. We need her to score so her being able to step up and make those big shots when we needed it really steadied us early, and we’ll need more of that.”
On if there are any takeaways from this game…
“You can take something from every game. We’re going to go back and learn from it. Obviously not how we wanted to show up tonight but we’ve got to learn from it. You either learn and grow or you stay where you are, and we cant afford to stay where we are. We will use this tape, learn, and we’ll be better because of it.”
On what she told the team post-game…
“I told them we have to protect home. For 40 minutes, we have to be locked in and ready to go with some intensity. Every game is a big game and we have to play every possession like it matters. We didn’t do that tonight and we’ll go back to work.”
Player Quotes

On the issue of not getting momentum going tonight…
“I think it was our focus from the beginning of the game like coach said, just knowing that when we come in we have to play for 40 minutes straight. We can’t pick it up at the end and expect to come back because anybody on any day can beat anybody, so just coming in, playing hard from the tip. It starts even before tip, the mindset.”
On what was difficult about keeping up with Austin Peay tonight…
“I think they did a good job of being aggressive from the tip but I also think we could’ve controlled a lot more than we did and just locking in more to the scout and just hanging our hats on defense, just having that mindset that this person not going to score on me.”
On how she will adjust to being double teamed in the future…
“I think like coach said finding my open shooters because I have a lot of great guards on this team that can also score the ball when I’m getting doubled. Just making that read better, kicking out to them. Also, just continuing to stay in the paint and doing my work early that way I can score easily.”
