Men’s Soccer Falls in Second Sun Belt Contest
NORFOLK, Va. – Kentucky men’s soccer (3-5-0, 0-2-0 Sun Belt) fell 0-1 to Old Dominion (3-0-5, 1-0-1 Sun Belt) at the ODU Soccer Complex on Sunday evening.
The Cats showed improvement from their previous matches but struggled to get a goal on the scoreboard. Kentucky recorded nine shots, with four on goal, and 10 total corner kicks.
With the score tied 0-0 leading into the halftime period, the Monarchs found their game-winner in the 53rd minute. Kentucky’s Max Miller received a yellow card which prompted an ODU penalty kick. The shot was successful as Karan Mandair scored the lone goal of the match.
In the remaining 37 minutes of competition, UK tallied five shots hoping to find a score of its own before regulation ended.
The Wildcats will return to the Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex next Friday to take on new Sun Belt affiliate No. 3 Central Florida.
